If you are in the market for a car seat that is affordable, basic and very safe, yet does not have all the bells and whistles that some seats have you may want to check out this deal at Kmart. They have this convertible Cosco Scenera Car Seat on sale this week for just $35, down from $54.99.
It can rear face from 5-22 lbs, and front face from 22-40 lbs. Although there are not many reviews on Kmart's site...there are plenty of reviews on other sites that are very positive!!
The seat is available both in-store (Avoid shipping fees), and online. Shipping looks to be about $6.95. The sale at Kmart runs today thru next Saturday 2/13/2010.

wow, this one has been on sale a lot! I remember back in nov or dec you posted about this seat on sale for $25 shipped. I would have taken advantage, but of course this was just weeks after I bought a used car seat (different brand) off craigslist for the same price...ah well.
So I tried to get my sister to buy one for her kid but she said she didn't trust a $25 car seat...just curious, would you personally use this seat for your child?
